yah he adopted the name confucius many years later.
actually, his work 'the analects' is highly debatable as his own work! it was a collaboration of 'conversations' confucius had many, many years ago. the text was actually introduced by many of his students. interestingly enough, many of his students werent of high birth, they were just regular folk who were able to give confucius a small stipend for his teachings.
