No there will be no turning up of the heat.
It's 69 throughout the rest of the house, but my room has 3 vents and is like 90 degrees all the time. yuck.

Commercial. Once in a blue moon we do a really large house with a bookoo rich owner but those are a pain cuz homeowers are pretty picky when their stuff breaks down.
Most of the commercial stuff is just office space or schools. I did the same type of work in the Bay Area and that had more clean room stuff for the semiconductor/biotech fools.

Move the thermostat into your room. You'll be happy and the rest of the house will be miserable.

Aahhh. Our architecture firm does only Institution and occasional commerical. Never any residences. Which is funny, cuz todays luncheon was geared entirely to the residential market. Someone didn't do there homework. tisk tisk.

I want to learn more about the other building systems that are in what we design. Seems like everything is handed to a consultant and we don't really have any control on the decisions made. No good.

Yes that is what I'm talking about.
Actually my plan is to stick giant magnets over my vents to keep the hot air out of my room. My room faces north it shouldn't be that hot in my room.

WTF???? Becuase hot air is repelled by magnets??

Can't you just close some of the diffusers?

They are all closed now. I thought that the magnets would block any little holes.

Some crap you might find in a modern building:

Voice
Data
Process Controls
HVAC
Lighting
Tennant billing for afterhours use of HVAC and lighting
Security (card access, CCTV, berg, or even the new RFID stuff)
Fire
Radio Communications (mostly for large sites with walkie talkies)
If you've got something like a data center then you probably have battery UPS banks and generators. Maybe even connections to multiple power grids. And all of the hardware to handle that mess.
RFID Inventory is starting. You could just send out requests for RFID tags and listen for the responses to replace old fashiond hand checks. Or the trick setup is to have RFID employee badges. Then put RFID tags on things like PCs/laptops. If an employee passes through an exit or whatever with a laptop that he is not authorized to take past that spot then the security guards get to shoot at him. It's fun. no?
