I had no problems with My06 STI is the car brand new??? do you have a boost gauge if so what are you boosting... maybe a line has came lose

Better choice. I mean, your car is bone stock, you're already trying higher octane fuel to combat ping, there's something going on. I'd run straight 91 for a week or two, then take it in........make it obvious that there's something wrong.

Never heard anything mang and I had an early 04 I know the ping sound well... Just get a AP to fix the problem j/k

Bought new. Now has 6200 mi. Has a turbo guage and I've always been maxing at about 1 bar - 14.5 psi. I'll check the lines. Thanks!

That sounds like wise advise to me! I was thinking the same thing. I don't want to go in there with any kind of mixure of fuel and confuse things.

I have to agree with you. When you're squezzing 300 ponies out of a 2.5 liter motor there must have to be some pings and that's what the knock sensors and the whole advance/retard timing system is for. I'm sure some ping more than others and at different temps.
