Cool Noob Introduction

Hey guys,

Recently purchased an '04 WRX wagon and so far, have ordered the following for it.

Exterior
17" Rota Tarmac II's with Falken All Season (Ebay special).
Eibach Pro Springs for wagons (from Hong Kong)
Whiteline 22 mm adjustable rear bar with supports and endlinks
(Hope to have that all arrive next week, thinkin' about having Subaru Specialists do the installation along with an alignment)

Interior
Alpine Receiver/CD with 4 speakers, Sirius Satellite Radio & Garmin GPS (takes me 10 friggin minutes just to put it all in to go for coffee)
Perrin Short Shifter

Like to head for the Delta and tear around the Delta twisties in my semi-cautious noob way. (Keeps me from killin' the boss on most days)

So, question is, am I missing any other initial mods (relatively inexpensive) that might make it a bit more fun? i.e. steering rack bushings? Also, what's the track record of the Ecutek flashing at Subaru Specialists. Got one year left on the warranty, and wonder if it's worth doing now or holding off until I get a little driver's ed at Thunderhill or somewhere and the warranty expires.
Thanks, in advance, for the advice.

Welcome to the forums

The steering rack bushings are an awesome mod, and for $30, one of the best for the money. It was a night and day difference when I did mine.

As for the ECU reflash, definitely get an ECUTek. Subaru Specialists gets great numbers out of the cars and Nate is awesome to work with.

If you want, cruise out to tomorrow nights Saturday meet here in Natomas

Welcome to the club! My mod suggestion is a two parter: Up-Pipe and Turbo-back exhaust. It'll give you some extra juice and make it sound real purty!

Edit: those aren't the cheapest mods though...

Get Subaru Specialists to change your tranny fluid to Redline Shockproof. It rocks.
Makes it super easy to shift through the gears.

Talking Thanks all

Thanks all,

You really know how to make a guy feel welcome, and were pretty easy on me the first time. (grin)
I'll check out the other threads on the uppipe and turbo back exhaust. My only worry there is what it may do to the smog check (if anything) next time I have to pass it.
Thanks again!

Do it all! You shouldn't have to worry about it till 2010 then figure it out.

FYI - I'd recommend doing an ECU reflash before doing the turbo back exhaust. With just a TBE you'll get less out of it than you would with a reflash, and you're going to want a reflash anyway to make sure your car is running safe once you modify exhaust and other components.
