how do you use the term "turn key", only for an engine?

Wow that sucks...

Just this past weekend I was checking my oil at the pump and the oil level was at L, so I put a quart in (thinking that wouldn't be enough) and now it's at or above the F mark. So the difference between L and F is 1 quart, this means I still had 2-3 quarts of oil left? Does that sound right?

If you were checking the oil at the gas station, that means you had just shut the car off. It takes time for all of the oil to drain back into the pan and that is probably why it read low then and above full later on.
