New Tires

I need to (get to?) finally replace the re92's and am not really sure what direction I want to go in. Mainly street driving, possibly a little track or autox in the future is what I will be doing. Suggestions on tires and retailers in the sac area would be much appreciated.

I've had really good experience with the Americas Tire on Arden. I currently have Azenis ST115s. They're pretty nice. Don't get Dunlop FM901s!

in all honesty tho.. the 115s are great tires.. I think a lot around here are running them on the street

I still love RE070s if you have 17s

I believe the ST115 are not mud+snow rated, though, so you may need winter tires if you envision trips to the snow.

the Falken Azenis ST115 is an awesome tire and is decent in the rain.

the Falken FK451 is almost as good on dry roads but much better in the rain.

neither of them is worth anything in the snow though.

ha. Yeah, I think Im looking for something thats just a little more all season (re the hoosiers.). I'll be up to sierra @ tahoe and probably a few other resorts, but nothing on a regular basis. If the roads are all somewhat cleared off, should the 115's be fine? And is it worth going to the 451 instead of the 115 for the amount of rain we get around here?

I think its going to be between the falken's, simply because of the $ difference. I think for the amount of time that I'll be spending driving in the snow, it just wouldnt be worth getting a tire that was made for that. Anyway, thanks for the replies.

Unless you are buying performance tires, I personally think the Pirelli's are overrated anyways.

They cost too much compared to what you get.

The ST115's?

But the are teh lose on the snow.

What's wrong with your re92's I mean it's a pretty good wheel imo. People just tend to think they are on 070's

I miss my re92's, wherever they are..

I think Egan has been unhappy with his Pirellis too.

I don't think the Pirelli tires are bad, per se, just over priced. You are paying a premium for the Pirelli name (for street tires anyway).

The RE92's have about 36,000 or so miles on them and need to get replaced. You know, everyone does seem to really dislike the re92's but I havnt really had a problem w/them. However, they are all I know so when I change I might feel a big difference. Who knows? Yeah, the pirellis do seem overpriced compared to other similar tires.
