Yeah, if you don't need to tow anything big, the Tacoma is the best. They are really nice trucks and do well on gas mileage too.

They're decent trucks, but the 4 banger is ball-less. If I get a truck it'll be a 3/4ton diesel

Get a Ford F350, you can tow pretty much anything and its a Diesel. Plus you can get the Quad cab...

On a serious note: I drove a Tundra for my work and it had decent gas mileage. A LOT of go and could hold about a ton in the bed and still ride comfortably.

What is the reasoning for having a Diesel again??/hmm?

1. Higher cost of fuel now!
2. Expensive to service and maintain.
3. Loud and annoying

So, to clarify, you want a truck bed, 4 doors, and good mileage? Well, it's like modding your car. You can only choose 2 from among cheap, fast, and reliable.

Thank you. Oh, and add in towing capacity, the motors will run forever, easy to mod, and smog exempt

If you want a truck that the wife will love, look at the Honda Ridgeline.
About the most comfortable, "car-like" truck on the road.

honda ridgeline is better for gas milage...and it's a quad door.
but don't expect to tow a 5th wheel...but it will haul a boat...
