Need someone to rebuild my 5spd.
Hey guys, anyone know someone (somewhat locally) that rebuilds Subaru transmissions on the side? I blew 3rd gear and am going to put LGT gears in it now. Transmission is already out and ready to be worked on.
Thanks!

yeah...Paul @ DBTuned FTW
or LIC!
I typically go to LIC since I'm closer to them and have been working with them on my old RS and current one for the past few years and they're awesome. Paul is also a favorite here in the sac area(no pun intended
) You won't be disapointed with Paul's service

I was kinda trying to stay away from shops and their prices.
Seeing if anyone knows someone that did this work on the side, or works on trannys at their job but also does side jobs at home.

hmmm be prepared to be lectured then lol
Honestly if thats what if you have in mind...it's your car, but just make sure someone who does it is a professional and will get this done correctly or you'll have a ton of headaches and arguments with some random person. GLIA.

You could go to a local dealer and hang around a shady corner and ask a tech when he/she leaves
I'm guessing one too many hard launches with your setup?

Maybe rent a van and kidnap one. haha
I rarely launched it. Only at the track and out with the guys. I was getting on it coming home from work one night. Floored it in 2nd, then 3rd, then boom. There's a ton of us '06 guys blowing only 3rd gear, so something's up with it.

If it was my car then I would take it to Paul to get the tranny done. If you want somebody to build it on the side you may save some money and get no warranty and most likely be done for much longer then actually taking it to a shop. It will cost you more then a side job from a friend or suby tech but then you get to support a local Suby enthusiast and probably be better off in the long run. Not to mention meet a hell of a nice guy and work with a great shop. just my .02.

lol. The Subaru dealership is 2min down the road from me. We've had a couple meets there and I go there for the LOF service, so they know my car pretty well.
Other than that, it'll be wayyy too much work to take it back to stock!
Update: I found a Suby tech that'll take a look at it and do the work for me.
