Need recommendation on wireless PC speakers

I need some that are loud enough for the employees to hear at the Beach Hut Deli.

I'm entertaining the idea of making a CGI email order form for a website i haven't built yet and marketing it to our customers. But the hard part is being able to alert our staff that an email order has come in. I suppose I can set it up with outlook and have a loud .WAV email alert to get their attention. But I need to have small wireless speakers near the kitchen so they aren't tucked away in the back office so nobody can hear them.

Can you give me recommendations on a good but inexpensive set? Nothing extravagent is nessesary here. Not sure if this is a good idea or not, either... does anyone have experience with emailed orders? Say with a pizza parlor, etc? Your input would rock.

Also, does anyone have an old IPOD they'd like to sell or know of a place to get a used one in good condition? We have XM at like $15 a month. It's okay but an IPOD with a massive playlist (which I have) on shuffle would be much cheaper in the long run.

I know there is a website here where I go to school called www.lionmenus.com where you can place online orders. I'll see if I can get some info for you on they do things.

if you had a fax machine, couldn't you write a script for the CGI form to be faxed to your machine, then your sammich makers would have a fax w/ the order spit out at them...
less downtime for them, cus then they don't have to go to computer and select email and print...
more automation, less worker "busy" downtime.

also, there is a place in Alabama called Unclaimed Baggage that buys lots of left behind and unclaimed baggage from airlines and resells the stuff...if you can't get into their store you can buy from them on ebay under the username lost-n-found-treasures.
there's not much on there store right this moment, but they sell stuff at hardly any reserve and always have stuff like iPods on there...i have a friend who bought both her kids each a gameboy advanced and like 10-15 games for like $25/ea.
just got to keep an eye on their auctions...unless you're in the AL area and you can stop into their warehouse store, which i've heard is INSANE!

That's a good idea but i wouldn't know how to write that. Not that advanced yet. Are you sure it's possible?

i don't know for sure how to do it, but it's got to be possible...
we used WinFax at a place i worked and everyone would get a pop-up on their screen when a fax would come in and you could view the fax and reply (it used an email client) without ever printing the faxes (paperless)...the application would then fax back your reply thru an email account back to their fax #...so i know it's got to be available.

at my current job we use eFax...similar in design but not as powerful. all our faxes come via email and you just reply via email and it sends the file back...

something to check into.
i'm no computer programmer guru but i'm sure there's someone here that speaks geek enough to be able to help.
good luck.

YW.

yea that place is good for stuff that they have no clue as to it's value...
sometimes stuff is fair market, but others you can jump on for a screaming deal.
once they had a duffle bag w/ "misc canon photo gear" for $250...
in the photo there was 300-1000mm(?) zoom lens (the fancy white ones) along with about 6-10 other various canon lenses, a compact tripod and a bunch of filters and accessories...i didn't have the cash at the time...it made me cry a little.

where did you find the monopod? in the electronics sections?
i musta missed it this morning when i browsed thru.

Damn...

If you were Ed, you would have been selling your *** on the corner. Not so you could afford the camera gear, but because you would be a big gay manwhore...

Yeah it was in the electronics section.

are those the quiet comfort NC ones?
i always see those on there...must be very common for people to leave behind.

or one of the airlines uses them in first class and somehow that place getts their hands on them.

i keep an eye on some of the clothing too...sometimes they have killer deals on nice top of the line clothes also.

Wouldn't there be some way to set your PC to receive an email and print it automatically, instead of using a fax machine?

Sending e-mail to fax can be done. It's a bit expensive, you need to have a fax server running on network. That will allow you to connect to fax server via TCP/IP and just send faxes to whatever fax you need by encoding the text into PCL ( or whatever the name of the fax/printer language is) I'm no expert on faxes, but I had few project where faxes were involved and connecting to a fax server my only option. Not sure if you can have an e-mail for a fax number, but if you can then simple send that e-mail to fax e-mail address and you are done. But the idea of CGI+e-mail+speakers=thewinnar for you.

So I got a voicemail yesterday telling me that for some reason the monopod had not yet been shipped (box was overlooked or something like that) and that they would send it out next day to me for free. Well I just got back to my desk and there was a huge effing box sitting there waiting for me.

The monopod was packed in about 40 pounds of bubble wrap in a refrigerator box (well not really but the box was huge). There were a few small scratches on the monopod head and not a mark on the monopod itself. This thing is not a camera support, it is a weapon...
