If you work for HP or Micron. Other than that I don't know what you would do.

Does not compute.

I don't need to know your personnal details, but how much debt do you have?
$100K/yr = ~$8K/month...which ain't chump change.

Maybe it's your Metrosexual lifestyle?

That's gross, dude. Taxes take $1400 of my pay per month alone.

edit: And a mortgage on my house right now would be close to $3k/mo + property taxes (which would be RAPE given its current "value").

Tucson we can easily afford currently, even at the rate it's climbing is not going to hurt us as long as it happens within the next 4~6 months. I don't want a 3000 square foot house on 2 acres or anything, just a new 1500 to 1800 square foot house from a quality builder.

I'm trying to transfer to a different branch of the company, and it also benefits my career path. the beauty of this transfer is that my salary will actually increase, and the relocation package my company has is simply amazing (all moving costs, realtor costs for buying and selling, 1 point paid on a new house, 60 days housing costs, etc...).

increased salary + lower cost of living - pretty much 0 moving associated costs = teh win.

Well then hook my wife up when it's time to sell. I know a good realtor down in those parts so be sure you tell me before you pop smoke. I'll get you hooked up with her.

I see your point about it being Boise... It's on the rise though. Boise will have the last laugh. lol

i have been looking for two months now and it is depressing what is out there for 300k. The only houses out there under 300k are in areas you would be afraid to go home to at night with a crack house next door!

Where have you been looking?
What are your requirements?
Remember, as property values increase, the Riff Raff decreases.

I want to be in Orangevale, Citrus Heights, Folsom, maybe Rancho Cordova,Fair Oaks, Carmichael.I even have looked up the hill going to Placerville. I work in gold River and I need a 3 bedroom(but could make in a 2). Its sad and I think I might give up!

I moved from Citrus Heights to Cool and love it.
No/few neighbors, can go shoot my shotgun off the front deck, etc.
House + Land = Happy Mountain Oaf.

If you like Hang Town or El Dorado County, I have an agent that is great; I've used his services twice, friends & family have also used his services as well.
That is, if Salty's wife doesn't specialize in the area or doesn't have a reference for you.

I recently considered purchasing a home or a condo, but the prices are astronomical! At this point (after being on my own for 3 years) I'm actually considering moving back up the hill to live in my grandma's house (which is on my parents' property) to give me time to save money for a down payment on a place within 1 or 2 years. Luckily, my parents are willing to help me out when I do decide to make a purchase, otherwise, it'd be virtually impossible to afford something in the Sacramento area.

Nicole, there are those townhomes over here off El Centro right by I5. You can get in to a place there in the low 300's. They're really nice - only downside is that the lots are real tiny (though minimal yard work then ) and only 1 car garages. I toured em though, they were real cool.
