God I wish I got piad overtime. Had a live fire this weekend and a round seriously malfunctioned on the range. Had to shut everything down and EOD came out to blow the round in place. Getting to see how the Army does C4 now was the only cool thing about it.

120 mm HE mortar round. Pulled it out of the tootsie roll only to find a wind tunnel tip broken off exposing the live primer. Called a immediate cease fire and carried it to the dude pit. I wasn't willing to take any chances.

when i was 7 i went to a gun show with the ol man. there was a box of "decorative" 50 cal shells. no primers etc, so i grabbed one and handed the crazy old guy my allowance and walked off. as i was playing with it in the car on the way home i noticed that it sounded like there was sand in the shell, and that the primer was still in it....

guess i got one he missed

You certainly did. It's pretty hard to set one of those off short of heating it up. The primer that I'm talking about wasn't the one to ignite the propellant that launches the mortar, it was the primer that sets off the HE charge (i.e. the thing that goes BOOM).
