muffler/weld shop
Does anyone know any good places in the sac area that would do a straight pipe to blast pipes? I called A1 muffler around my area but they were charging me around 400 to do that, and that's almost as much as the n1 exhaust from invidia that I wanted. If anyone knows any thing let me know. Thanks in advance !!
Is the subaru community really all that high and mighty with extra money to burn that you're being charged $400 to weld a pipe? Holy ****! My dad owned a muffler shop in Detroit, and if you brought in a 1995 caprice and wanted an exhaust welded on, seriously $50. In an out, done... I'm floored that a catback exhaust is over $1000 for my car... Really!!?? I paid $200 for a custom bent pipe, with a 24in resonator, and "performance muffler"... (which again, "performance" is a misnomer as a muffler is always about sound, and never hp gain) The cost of a part/service is whatever people will pay i guess...

Look at steel mandrel bends: 50 a pop in sacramento. Look at piping: 50 for 5' and that's just for mild.
Stainless would cost almost 50% more.
Then you need flanges. 15 a pop for the simple 2 bolt ones.
Then you need gaskets.
Then you need hangers.
Then look at welding supplies.
I'm talking about quality stuff too, not that CRUSH BENT CHINESE CRAP that most local places will "hook you up with" on the cheap.
Then realize what your end result profits would be doing this crap, and all of a sudden its not so appealing to be doing labor for 6 bux an hour.
My dad is a professional welder/fabricator by trade right now: its not as lucrative as you think it is. 9 times outa 10 its cheaper to buy from a company that makes high volume and saves a ton of money in the process than to have something custom made.
Just my .02
PS: 400 for a full cat back exhaust (materials included) is not a bad price. If you find something cheaper that isn't a COMPLETE AND UTTER POS, you're lucky.

Yeahh it was my first time actually looking into it. I don't mind paying I just thought it could have been cheaper but you are right if you want quality in your part. I think I'm just going to save up for the invidia . Could your dad do it for me
