MS Outlook --> Lotus Notes, transferring archives?
my company has had a long standing policy that Lotus Notes is our official e-mail program. but for some dumb reason, they also had a pop e-mail server which allowed anyone with a basic understanding of e-mail to use outlook (that'd be me
).
well, in about 2 weeks that pop server is going bye-bye for good. how can i transfer my outlook archives (.pst file) into lotus notes? do i need to do some export - import thing? if you know, can you explain it in terms a 2 year old would understand?

In Outlook
File->Import/Export->Export to file -> Choose lotus notes explicitly or do comma delimited
In Lotus (guessing here)
File->Import/Export->Import from file->choose the file you just exported from Outlook.

When you install the Notes client, perform a customised install - this
way you can select the migration tools option.
Configure your outllok client with a profile and use the local PST file
as its mail source.
Configure the Notes client as usual and make sure all work and connects
to your Domino server.
In the \lotus\notes directory, you will find a nupgrade.exe application
- this only appears if you performed a custom notes install.
Run nupgrade.exe with option 3 specified i.e.
nupgrade.exe 3
This will then runn the application woth outlook / exchange option chosen.
Select the items you need.
The resultant output will be in the \lotus\notes\data\mail subdirectory
on the local PC. The file name will be similar to that specified in the
Lotus Notes location document i.e. is mail file is nadmin.nsf the the
output file will be a_nadmin.nsf.
You could pre-empt the a_ filename, by replicating the users current
mailfile down onto the local workstation and calling it
mail\a_nadmin.nsf then when you run nupgrade 3, all the converted mail
will direct straight into the a_nadmin.nsf file. A simple replication
after the convertion has finished will push all the data onto the server.
You may need to sign the resultant server database as you will get some
issues with unsigned content.
You will now have your PST file converted to a NSF file.
- Best of luck
