Woke up Sat and drove to Truckee, then to Reno. Saw G-eazy (killed it) and drove back to the cabin. Got there just after midnight, woke up at 645am and drove to San Mateo. Of course hit traffic with ppl going to see the Giants. Left just after 4pm when most were trying to leave after the game (should have waited :/) and got home a little after 7.

You guys dont have a console to just push simple updates like that?

Our dept has been using BigFix.

How many users do you support? Just you, or get any help?

Sounds like our department (see previous rants about IT). Java, flash, adobe, etc. Anything that needs an update, we have to put in a remedy ticket for it, wait 1-12 days for a pair of Sketchers Shape-Ups smelling of GPCs to come and fumble their way through the updates. 2 out of every 3 times, the IT "technician" wonders why the application won't update because they forgot that they need to log out of my account and into the admin account.

Me and the other desktop support person pretty much support everybody in the company, in the field etc... So we probably have about 200+/- computers between our terminals, shops, corporate etc...

Thats ridiculous. Even when I was at CDE, for a basic (non licensed software) update, user would put in a ticket and within an hour or two someone would be there to update.

Currently we push most our updates thru the console (Windows, flash, Firefox, ect). For those that need something random (VLC, Quicktime, ect), we prolly get to them within 20 mins..

Dude that crazy (not to have a management console). Its myself and 1 other and we have 130 +/-.

Think they would approve of something like that if you were to propose it? Tell them, yes it will cost some money, but you would save a lot of time and would be able to focus on more serious issues than Flash updates.
