So, I have a bunch of buddies that ride bikes My dad rides a bike. I pay attention to between-lane spacing, and I will make efforts in traffic to stay away from the lane dividers, especially on 2lanes coming towards stops, so there's more comfortable space for someone splitting lanes safely to do their thing.

But **** that guy, he got what he deserved. You NEVER make the assumption someone else sees you, and you never roll faster than you can stop or divert if someone is changing lanes, a little close, etc. You know you're threading the needle and have no escape route........act like it.

First one to post "YOLO" in response to this post is gonna get it. Do whatever you want in the middle of nowhere. If you're splitting lanes and your grisly end comes at the hands of a rear view mirror, I'm going to feel bad for the guy whose mirror just got effed up, and noone else. Fair warning.

But seriously, it absolutely stuns me to see idiots do this kinda crap. When I had my 2 bikes and finally had the ***** to start lane-splitting, the ONLY time I could get myself to think it was not retarded was either when cars were fully stopped, or at the most going like 1-3mph. I would then carefully go between going no more than about 5-6mph, and even still would be really paranoid doing it. I kept thinking "I can only go fast enough that if something stupid happens, I'm going slow enough to come to a complete stop on a dime".

Oh well. I just hope he's not on welfare or something so that I don't have to pay for him to sit in a hospital for years as a vegetable.
