You laugh, but when I worked IT this really wasn't all that uncommon. This one lady had one of those under the monitor surge protectors. Like this:

About once every couple of weeks she would call and complain how her monitor wouldn't work, or printer wouldn't work... Every single time it was because she pushed the keyboard up against one of the switches and turned it off.
