Question mini-z racers anygood?

throwing the idea around of picking up a cheap fun small R/C...
would throw down for the HPI Micros but they're $$$
looking for something that's better than a crappy toys'r'us type.

saw one f/s in the misc forum for reasonable price.
just wondering if they're any good. good hopup parts and are they fast4r?

i gots 2 bit char-G but they get boring....
controls are lame and the recharge, although quick, is too frequent & sorta lame.
i want something i can run for 20 mins or so...put in an ungodly sized motor in and burn the crap out of just cuz...
i miss my Nitro RS4Mini HPI!
and i just don't want to spend the cash to go that extreme again...
something budget minded, but fast enough to break the wheels free and get a little drifto on!

x-mods get teh job done?
