Ended up needing a new intercooler intake boot to rid the squealing.
They replaced my entire clutch assembly. Huge difference in feel and no more rattling / scratching. So good to have it back. Just picked it an hour ago.
The Mazda5 rental served me well yesterday for work and driving 300 miles to Morgan Hill and back. But just not the most ideal setup with my knees so close to the dash.
