Mattel has brought back my childhood !

We were at Target today going through the hot wheel section as per usual and I spy this.

so I am sure all of you are too young to remember these as I was little when I got my first set.

Basically all you have a charger for the cars that looks like a headphone jack that plugs into the cars. You hold the button down for 30-60 seconds and it fully charges up the cars. then you turn them on and let them zip all over the track.

These things were a blast when you get multiple cars on the track and when they rocket off due to the huge banks and embed themselves in walls.

This looks to be a Target exclusive so there is not much on the web from the Hot Wheels site, but you gotta check these things out. All the boxes have all the retro art from when they were fist sold, well as much as I can remember

now I just gotta convince Jen to let me blow some money on these things for a new set

Never saw those before. I do remember the hand crank launcher thing that worked like a baseball pitching machine for normal hotwheels cars.

I searched on ebay for them and found a ton of the old cars from the 70's, but they are all like $25-$50 as collector items.. looks like those prices are going down the tube since the re-release

be jealous of me... i have an oooooold 50's era slotcar set that belonged to my dad/uncle. its got the cars you bebuild yourself with different wheels/tires, bushing/motors, chasis/body... and you gota lube everything so they spark like a zippo and smell like popcorn going around the track. its got the special banked turns that you can adjust and different types of guard rail you can put up.

i have about... i duno, enough track to fill an entire sea chest my dad had in the service. so, allot, and it joins up with HO scale railroad via one of the few cossing track peices i have... years worth of fun in there.

when i was a kid we had it setup on 2 big sheets of plywood on top of a king bed frame. 3 different tracks for a total of 6 cars possible and the train going around too...

yah... my childhood rocked
