Mandangos of Elk Grove

God that place is gay. The name alone is gay.

My friend FINALLY talked me into going to the one in Elk Grove this past Saturday. Not because he liked going there but because he wanted to look at some ***. He had never been before either.

We get to the door and it's half empty at best. What they did have was a $10 cover! Are you serious? For a sports bar?! There were no DJs or band when we showed at 10:30pm. We looked at each other, laughed, and left. That's three pints worth of beer to me. I felt offended they’d even ask for my money when there’s nothing special happening inside. The large, older parties that were behind us left too.

I'm partial to the small bars and pubs of the area. I never go to these places and for good reason now. Is it the norm for these non-club places to charge a cover or are they struggling with their lease? God I hope so... I think Mandangos is the worse thing to happen to Elk Grove.

After googling the place it seems they turn into "Club M" on saturday nights. That's even gayer.

The location is poor if you ask me. That little mini-mall seems like a really accessible location but people always pass it by. A few places in there have already gone out of business and Peets Coffee is rarely open because it’s business is most likely slow. It's also 1/2 mile away from City Hall and the Police Station. Not good for a sports bar.

I just don’t get the cover charge for a place like that. $10 at the door could easily be made-up with alcohol sales.

I like streets too.

Decent, non-gansta crowd, decent selection of beer, eye candy, ok bar food when the kitchen is open, cool patio area.

I prefer the Bonn Lair when I'm not in the mood for the crowds.

It's not that i'm not in the mood for a crowd. It's just that I hate not being able to talk with friends over a pint when it becomes too loud to think.

I know what you mean. I was just making fun of the bars where I go, there are maybe 20 ppl at most on a Saturday night during the summer.

I don't think that's entirely fair. The shooter wasn't even an Elk Grove resident.

I think the problem is that Elk Grove isn't ready and hopefully never will be fully accepting of the club scene. The second I see someone dressed ghetto at my watering holes i'm out of there. Those people ruin everything. And yes, I mean those people.

EG is not a club town. It is for the most part a family town. I agree that Mandango's is in the worst possible location, but beyond that, it sucks and has nothing to draw people. A cover? That's a great way to make sure no one goes. They have got to be kidding. Who is going to pay a cover to hang in EG?

The pastery shop was just a bored rich housewife that wanted something to do for a year or two. Ended up being like barely a year. I talked to her just before they closed up. She made some pretty decent things there. Just horrible location.

but wasnt his girlfriend seeing some one from Elk Grove, thats why he hunted them down in Elk Grove? an thats not the first time some shooter is shooting it up in Elk Grove. I used to live in E.G for a long time, the only place to go was Bob's, the brewery, or E.G sport bar. It was fine back then.
