Local Canon photog nerdlings...

Since I got a fast wide angle lens for Christmas I am going to sell my existing wide angle. This lens - unlike most of the ultra wide lenses will work with any Canon EOS film body and any EOS full frame digital camera. Most of the ultra wides do not have the coverage for full frame digital cameras...

What I have:
Sigma 12-24mm f/4.5-5.6 w/ case, circular polarizer and grad neutral density filter.
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/cont...ughType=search
polarizer:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/cont...ughType=search
Grad ND filter:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/cont...=t&shs=BW50282

Asking $575

Canon > Nikon...

I don't think you have to worry about much flamming, I think it's only me and dz who use canon... hell maybe even really take pictures on the SRIC?!

Yeah that is probably why you don't see many white Canon lenses at professional sports events...

and if you didnt see a ton of Nikon lenses as well i would say canon is dominant, but just becasue canon is flashy with its white lenses doesnt mean its better.

thats like saying a riced out civic is better than a WRX, just cause the civic stands out more, LOL.

According to Fast and the Furious, that was true...

Canon > Dog **** > Nikon

And I base my opinion soley on the fact that I own a Canon, so I must hate my competitor. I have never used a Nikon, nor know enough about Camera's to base my opinions on facts... MUAHAHAHAH:rotfl:

I never said one was better than the other, you made that small minded assertion.

I believe that the 2 are on par with each other, but once you start buying expensive glass you are generally stuck with that company. Lenses last forever and at some point the camera body becomes an attachment to a collection of glass instead of it being the other way around.

Oh, and for the record the lenses are white to dissipate heat and keep the finly tuned optics aligned out in the hot sun. Well that and for brand recognition, the black lenses blend in and the white sticks out. You see a white lens and you think Canon, you see a pro shooting Canon gear at a game and you think "if the pros use Canon so should I". You have to admit that it is a great marketing ploy...

well i know Minolta cant build a DSLR to save thier life, BUT my all time favorite SLR 35mm was a Minolta (cant remember the body model) but i've never used anything like it DSLR/SLR since...
too bad i left it at an ex-g/f house and she hocked it for some extra cash.

and Canon arguably makes the best DSLR now days. can you say D5! yum!
DZ has a point though...it has a ton to do with your optics...a good lens can make or break a shot and Canon DOES make the best lenses!

oh i fully agree. the only reason i said that in my reply was just as John pointed out, you gotta talk **** about your competitor, LOL.

i had a hard decision wether to go with canon or nikon. you cant go wrong with either, i went with nikon soley because my grandpa and my dad were shooting nikons 30+ years ago, so its like a family thing i guess.

well, if i had a ton of friends that shot canon, i would have gone canon ( i have a few friends that do, but not enough to sway me) so that we could share lenses and stuff.
