Look, subaru coolant is ~$15/gallon.
You need one gal coolant, one gal distilled water.

$15 every 30K miles is .05 of one penny every mile driven.

Never use tap water unless you're in dire straits. If you must use it, flush it out when possible. It usually has too many minerals in it, and could cause electrolysys, corroding your engine/radiator/heater core from the inside out.

You don't want to drink distilled water. Since it has no minerals in it it will pull them out of you.

You can buy those big 2 gal jugs or 1 gal jugs of distilled at any supermarket... its in the water section
