lol well i ended up not going... was going for the gf's cousins daughters bday.. decided that after an hr drive i would only be able to be there for an hr before i had to leave so i could come back to roseville to see my friend off.. who is going to africa for 2 yrs = more important to me.

so I've had a recovery tool scanning the erased HDD for a few hours now and its at 21.87GB's scanned this is gonna take a while, and I still need to figure out where to restore everything to (its not 500GB worth of data though) because I'm assuming I can't restore it right back to the HDD. I'm thinking recover it all to a costco external HDD, copy onto my external again, return costco external

Oh, and do any of you computer guys know if theres some kind of power strip that if the power goes out and comes back on, the strip wont turn back on until I turn it on? I think it was the multiple quick off's and on's while the computer was trying to write to it that fubar'd it
