Military = best game I ever played and funnest job I have ever had. I get paid to sit at a desk, chat on I-club, learn to shoot an M-16, M-4, 9mm, shotgun..., get paid to take cruises, get to see the world, meet all kinds of cool people and experience tons of good foods.

only down side is its tough on the family and personal relationships at times, and if you get a dick as a supervisor that sucks to.

If he finished PRC and has a date lined-up for Ranger School then he's good to go. I’m sorry but it drives me nuts when civilians confuse and equate military proceedings, protocol, dedication, sacrafice, (etc) with obligations that can be dissolved with a two week notice in their world.

I had one course (Jumpmaster) and get postponed for the lack of planes because they were on deployment and another school due to insufficient class sizes because of OEF deployments. Everything worked out. Your friend will be fine.
thank you for putting words in my mouth

I should pocket about 30000 during the 6 months there. During that same time the guys at KBR will be brining in from 50000 to 150000 doing the same job as I will do.

but I get to wear a uniform and carry an M-16 every where I go, even the shower.

He is also thinking about joining blackwater, but I am pushing him against that
I've got a friend that went through RIP a couple months ago. Said it made basic look like a joke. He made it though and deploys for Iraq in July.
