Jury Recommends Death For Peterson
Verdict Returned On Third Day Of Deliberations
POSTED: 11:41 am PST December 13, 2004
UPDATED: 1:55 pm PST December 13, 2004
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. -- A jury decided Monday that Scott Peterson should be put to death for murdering his eight-months pregnant wife Laci, whose Christmas Eve disappearance two years ago formed the basis for a legal drama that has captivated the nation ever since.
The jury returned its verdict on the third day of deliberations and after seven days of tearful testimony in the penalty phase of the trial. The jury had two options in deciding the 32-year-old fertilizer salesman's fate: life in prison without parole or death by injection.
Inside the courtroom, family members of both Laci and Scott Peterson were seated just a few feet away as the jury's decision was read.
Judge Alfred A. Delucchi will formally sentence Peterson on Feb. 25.

Deep down I'd hoped he would be found Not Guilty and they would convict Amber Frye or something. Scott has this whole conspiracy theory worked out about how it was her that killed Laci and stuff. It would make for great TV.
If he is in fact guilty, which our court system has decided he is (granted it's not always 100%), then I think death is suitable for him. Unfortunately he'll still be alive for many, many years as he goes through the appeals process.

True, plus the waiting list. What is it at like 7 years?

sweet.. now he will sit on death row till he dies
California does not have a death penalty
now he gets a mandatory appeal which will take even longer then the original trial. Way to go

" California sentences people to death, but they usually die of natural causes before the sentence is actually carried out.

i was hoping he'd get life in prison with no chance of parole. that way, the state would save money on countless appeals, and he would be somebody's ***** on a daily basis.
did anyone else notice the previews for (i think it's) TNTs movie about this? i like how they waited till he was found guilty and therefore not able to profit from the movie to release it.
