I am going to go out on a limb and assume that this is at least partially directed at me. It is hard to take rules seriously when staff members and mods break them with impunity. There are threads that were started by staff members (granted that some of them were started and contributed to before the new rules came in to play) that go against the rules. These threads are not locked and no points are awarded because of them. Staff members (today even) have made racial comments towards other members in their posts.

There is such a thing as going too far and this works in both directions. Hell if people are so concerned about "saving" this place they would not be so active on hidden member only forums elsewhere on the internet.

I understand what you are trying to do, I just don't think it is being done in the right way. Life happens, and things change. This place will never again be what it was 6 years ago, you may not like it and I may not like it, but it is what it is. I(we) have the choice to deal with it and play by the rules or go away. I am attempting to do the former, but I believe that I will eventually fail because I am clearly a useless piece of crap that is hell bent on making my friends lives miserable by putting them in difficult situations.

edit: i for one am glad that a few people seem to be gone. who knows for how long, hopefully they choose not to come back. sybir, what you have to realize is that rabbit would come across with an attitude that he was "untouchable" because he works with / hangs out with a few mods. that kind of attitude doesn't fly in the real world, and only goes so far in the land of the internets. hell, he'd even made comments to me during a few e-dickswinging contests that i need to realize who i was talking to and who he knew.

as much as I hate to agree with dz, there is a bit of a double standard here. it is what it is... but it doesn't set a good example for members to be told "you can't do that" and then see staff members doing that very same thing. those of us who were around before the SRIC/BAIC split realize that it's just the same old good natured jackassery, but not everyone has that kind of history.

rule number one of effective leadership: if you want people to act right, lead right.
