Isn't it considered OT in California when you are called in for unscheduled work? And don't forget the 4 hour pay minimum, if you work less than that.

It's only OT if you work more than a certain amount of hours in a week. There's some stipulations for hours worked in a day too but I don't know the limitsl.

If you are not a "professional" than it's 8 hours a day OR 40 hours per week. So if you work 3 12 hour days it's 12 hours OT. :RockOn - not mine: But if you work 5 10s, it's 10 hours no matter how you want to slice it. Also, if your standard schedule is not 5 8 hour days but does not exceed 40 hours it is not OT.

 

Clarification: Professional means salary. And if you're full-time, it matters more if you work a total of 40 hours or more. Like I can work 5 hours tomorrow, 9 the next day, come out with 40 hours total, and it's not overtime.

 

but you'll get 1 hour of overtime on the 9 hour day
