What about the slightly better FM modulators that tap into the antenna input instead of broadcasting over the air? Otherwise you need a new deck or simulate a CD changer and use it's input on the back of the stock deck you have. I think someone tried this with no luck.

Scott, if you have the money and time, go get the new Alpine deck that works directly to the ipod, even controls the ipod from the head unit. My friend just got his and it is awesome. I agree on the FM modulator. I just bought mine and it sucks. My old tape connector was a 100 times better than that. The of course get the six channel 700 watt amp and sub. I can't believe how good the stock setup sounds with the new amp and sub.

Have fun, what a blast of a drive that will be.

I have a Sony head unit, new in box, that has RCA inputs. Is the iPod output in MP3 format or analog? My deck doesn't do MP3.

It's analog output. Out of the standard headphone jack.

If you have a MY04 alpine deck they have a digital adapter for the iPod called the interface adapter ( model # KCA-4201). The FM modulator tends to suck a bit but this I.A. is pretty sweet. It also charges your Ipod while plugged in.
