when mine cracked, it didn't even have a rock chip.
i went to my car in the morning and noticed a ~2" long, what I thought was a pine needle under the side of the weatherstripping.
as i drove to work it grew from ~2" to about 2/3 of the way across the windshield (~12 miles).
i could literally watch it grow as i was driving.

then on the way home another one appeared on the pass side and by the time i got home i had TWO stress cracks that overlapped by about 3" just right of center on the windshield.

they never met, but it still pisses me off.
