I hate TV

I just got off the phone with some dirty pole-smokin' c-word from Dish Network.
She couldn't help me fix the problem, saying that I'd have to schedule a tech to come out...to the the tune of $100 min.
She couldn't offer a hardware upgrade...been a customer for over 8yrs without asking 'em for ****.

Symptoms: Picture pixalates, signal is dropped, picture comes back, pixalates, gets dropped.

I've tried re-aiming the dish to no avail.
While aiming, the signal bar goes from red to green, back to red, sometimes locking on, mostly not. No rhyme or reason to the signal strength.

Dish has no blockage to satellite and all connections appear good.

My thoughts; dump Dish Network, try Direct TV w/ new hardware.

Your thoughts before I do something drastict.

I have directv. It's pretty good. We had dish network for about a year - their customer service people were *******s.

DirecTV for the win. My new place has the satellite dish on the back of the roof, aimed at a tiny slice of southern sky between the roof and the stand of trees, and I get killer reception, no drops.

we have direct and they're very easy to deal with if you have tech issues. i always get techs that speak american english and can actually help me fix the problem when i have one.

Paul. Aim with a dedicated meter attached to the cable. It's more accurate.

If your gonna switch to D* then WAIT!!!!!!

New hardware is about to be rolled out. The new stuff is Ka and Ku band tracking five birds (current stuff is three). The two additional birds are MPEG4. This is to get the local channels of all major markets in HD coming through the beam (spotbeams in this case).

If you switch now you might get an upgrade later....dunno.

Or if you don't have any HD sets anyway then make the switch now. Both my neighbor and brother-in-law have dish an I don't like it.

Is it on any broadcast or HD? It may be something as simple as the receiver. I have DirectTV and get the same thing on an older receiver. Also check the dish for any tree sap or bird remnants.
