Google is rumored to be working on their own browser.

If ya wanna or gotta run Windows, Firefox goes a long way to closing security holes that MS likes to implement in IE. When I ran IE 5 and 6, it seemed that critical updates were introduced every few weeks or else I'd read about how some security specialist in Norway found yet another way for hackers to get into your system via Internet Exploder.

I thank my fellow Sac Subies members for showing me the light.

I also don't use MS Outlook Express for e-mail. I use Forté Agent.

just a FYI, even if you dont use IE, unless you completly remove it from your OS, you still need to patch it, because the holes are still there.

If any browser gets to be as popular as IE it too will need frequent security updates becase that will be targeted by the meanies out there.

I still apply all MS critical updates, thanks. Does anyone ever uninstall it completely, or does this render some part of the o/s not operational?
