I believe it is Friday.
Ok, so....My landlord and I had a conversation today about how when I have people over, which is not very often, but about how they induce extra wear and tear on the house. Their extra wear on the door *****, and hinges should be added into my rent. YIKES! He was dead serious. This conversation started with a discussion about the fact that my room is DEAD cold. It was 28* here the other night, and my room has NO heater. No Heating duct. Nothing. Its a tile floor, on a cement slab. It looks nice, but its VERY cold when its cold out. Additionally I get a draft from the rest of the house under my door. The rest of the house isn't heated, instead my roommate/landlord agent, utilizes a space heater to heat his room. I was remarking about how cold it is, and he said that he had another space heater, and that I was welcome to use it. Cool. Well, I put it in my room, and it immediately caused a localized brown out in my room. Shut my computer off, stereo, etc. Not Cool.
He tried blaming it on the fact that I have "So much stuff running" Hrmmm...This room that I am in used to be a garage. As a garage, it should be wired to withstand some strong current draws. Ok. I said he was crazy, and I didn't have THAT much stuff running. He then said that he should charge me extra for all the stuff that I have running, and its far more than is considered normal for a room, and I shouldn't expect to be able to run all this from my room.
I put together a chart detailing my potential energy usage, given worst case scenarios, and using the highest charging tier, and using the more expensive winter tier for the entire chart.
All together charges were $38.24, including my share of the internet. Which isn't even paid on time resulting in service being cutoff at one point.
I am currently paying 100$ per month in utilities! He had the nerve to say that either I unplug my fridge, or he was going to start charging me more for utilities.
Anyhow, here is my estimated usage. I overestimated the hours used for alot of that stuff.

I work alot. I am working 40HRS a week. Add in an additional 5 hours for lunchs, and 1 hour 20 minutes a day commuting. (6 Hours 40 minutes per week.) 51 hours, and 40 minutes so far just for work. Lets say that on average I spend 2 hours of additional time shopping, running errands, or whatever per week after work. And then on my days off I am here on average one of those days. So, that is 24 hours less, but lets give the benefit of the doubt and say that I am only gone during normal hours that day. So 12 hours...+ 2 + 51 Hours 40 Minutes comes out to 65 hours and 40 minutes. lets say that on average I spend 8 hours sleeping. (Some more, some less) That is 121 Hours that I am not using utilities to any great extent, other than residual for clock, or fridge. 121 hours out of 168 Hours possible in a week. That leaves me with only 47 hours that I could possibly utilize "Utilities" to any great extent. Wow.
Maybe I am off on my some of my utility calculations, but I erred on the side of caution with each area that was an estimate. Where possible I utilized the actual measurements from the devices using a kill-a-watt measuring tool, or from the manufacturers specs.
Long story short. Anyone renting a room??

$100 is a bit much for utilities... I am paying about $60-$80 per month... thats Gas, Electric, Internet, and Cable. Water is included in my Rent which is $325/Month.
Overall I am at about $400/month... not too bad.
