Thumbs up I <3 the subaru community

Well today was my last day before my spring break starts. I finished a midterm and was on my way to work, then to the Thurs night meet after.

Im driving down Howe and notice some steam coming from the engine bay at a stop light. Check the temp and its normal. Drive a little bit and the steam goes away, thought to myself maybe it was another car. Next stop light the steam shows up again. Engine temp still normal...

So i pull into the Chevy's parking lot at Howe/Hurly and pop my hood. On the upper hose to the radiator, its got a pin size hole shooting coolant like a squirt gun... I thought great just want i need right now. i go shuffling thru my trunk to see if ive got anything i might be able to use as a band aid to get the car home. I find some white medical tape and lay it on.

I made it about 2 blocks and the temp needle started to climb. I pulled over and the tape was soaking wet and coming off. I cut off a small piece of a tow strap hoping i could tie it on over the tape just to hold it in place with some pressure. I knew Dre aka lazykid4life was coming out to the meet tonight. I shot him a txt to see if he could bring a new upper hose tonight for me. Then again I make it about 2 or 3 blocks and the temp needle starts to climb so i pulled over again.

Figure there was no way i was going to make it 11 miles home. I broke down and called for a tow. They said it was going to be at least 45min to get there Dre called me and said screw that we will just install it on the side of the road. I went to the house I was parked in front of and asked if i could barrow a couple tools, they were awesome and helped me out! Dre showed up just a bit later and we got at it.

New hose on, topped off the coolant and burped the system. Returned the tools and we were off. I made it about 2 miles before the temp started to rise again Pulled over and we burped the system again and topped it off. After that it was smooth sailing and was good to go!

Just wanna give another HUGE THANKS to Dre for helping me out AGAIN!

now i'm going to be paranoid about my upper radiator hose breaking.

btw you're suppose to burp the coolant at the upper reservoir above the manifold on the turbo side not off the radiator.
