this is the exact reason you don't want to put any uppipes or downpipes on the '04s till after you get some engine management, things just go too fast, and then go boom.
Any thoughts?

Not catless. Stock exhaust. AP Stage 1, 91 Oct. '05 STi.

I was driving pretty hard up grant line. Didn't notice anything until I got to the other end of sunrise and saw the flashing cruise and solid cel on. I'm not sure when it turned on. the car drove fine so I would have to say it's not a limp home situation.
I haven't pulled the code yet.

I heard that the ony way to run your catless sporty wxr without fuel management, is to run it on 87 octane, someone should test that out.

Definitely strange considering the stock exhaust. It could be an AccessPort issue separate from the usual boost creep we would expect for a flashing cruise.

Mine has a flashing cruise right now, and CEL, but the code says 0420 Cat Inefficiency...(Which we'll fix friday) And it runs perfect. No safe mode. I can;t imagine he'd get a Cat CEL with the stock exhaust.

Exactly. And he shouldn't get the wastegate CEL either with the stock DP. Very strange...

is it the "danger to manifold" cel?

it is possible to overboost a car with a cat, even with the stock downpipe. especially on a nice cold morning.

Anything is possible. Although since no one I can recall has reported overboost with stock parts and stock EM, I'd guess that Dan's AP is to blame.
