After DisneyLand we went and watched "The Davinchi Code". I actually liked it, some of the "explaining" that they did, went way to fast so it didn't really give you time to absord what they where trying to say. I can see how it pissed off the retarded hardcore christians though...

For myself, the book (and therefore the movie) **** me off from a purely historical sense. There are too many inaccuracies in the history within the book and that just irks me. I guess that's what comes from having a minor in Medieval Studies and I'm sure most folks won't even notice those little things. But to me, I just roll my eyes and I can't get wrapped up in the story any longer. At least if you are going to develop a story like this, go to the effort to make it believeable and really make people question their belief system.
What even irks me more are some of the people that I've seen interviewed after watching the movie saying they learned so much they didn't know. That's like saying , "I didn't know there were mutants among us", or "I didn't know monkeys could grow so large." It's a friggin work of fiction, and one full of hostorical inaccuracies at that.

Anyways, good morning everyone.

I read the book and liked it, though I could see how someone who truly knew the history would be bothered by how unbelievable the story was to them. It's like on 24 when they "upload files to the subnet", that **** pisses me off

I get a kick out of how Opus Dei, other Catholics and history buffs are dealing with this. Welcome to my world whenever a military movie comes out, especially movies that people accept as a historical lesson or an inside look of military life (Jarhead, Basic, even Blackhawk Down in a lot of respects). This is one of the main reasons I go fake hunting after the debut of a major military movie (I’ve got a system). The amount of verification requests military background checking services get nearly doubles after the release of such movies.
Like so many people before that watch military movies and other movies like F9/11 for educational purpose, I plan to dumb myself up a little before seeing The Davinci Code this afternoon just so I can walk out having learned something "factual". I'll be sure to PM Egan with my findings.

I agree with you Egan, but in Dan Brown's defense (not sure if this is good or bad), his wife actually has her masters or PhD in Art History. He just asked her a few questions and came up with the story. . . basically..
morning... can't really say it is a good morning, have to drive down to Vallejo for a Funeral for a close family friend.... and then this last Friday my Grandfather passed away, hence why I was not at the meet. And his Funeral is going to be wednesday. A lot of death recently, and this really sucks... However I still have my niece and nephew to bring up my spirits.

Soon I will be back on the forums more frequently, I am still without a computer.

.Anyways, it's raining out.
I think a trip to Home Depot is in order to get some electrical supplies to install the outdoor ceiling fan on the deck.
