Had a little meeting with Sac PD and the driver of a Ranger today

I'll start at the beginning. I took about 20 minutes last night to install some new hotness:

I am digging the look (even more once it gets painted) but it hangs low, I have about 4.25" between the lip and the ground and it scrapes if I take my own driveway head on.

Fast forward to about 5:30 this evening as I am heading home from work in the left lane of I-80 East between Northgate and Norwood. I saw something in the left side of the lane that appeared to be a rock or piece of concrete so I swerved to the right side of my lane (but did not cross the lane line) in the hopes of missing it.

Lucky for me I missed the object, unlucky for me a guy in a Ford Ranger apparently thought I was swerving at him. Because of this, he took it upon himself to grab something inside his truck and throw it at my car. I hit the brakes and got behind him and called 911 on my cell and of course was put on hold.

This guy slowed down from about 40mph to about 5mph on the freeway and exited the freeway by driving on the shoulder of the road and up the small grass hill on the side of the freeway, I followed him. He kept screaming out his window that he was going to kick my ***.

He turned left on Norwood, I followed. We caught a red light by the McDonalds and SaveCo (I think) Foods store.

Again he screamed at me, got out of his truck and walked towards my car. I rolled the window back up and waited on hold and ignored the dude. Apparently he was even more pissed and he punched my door.

When the light turned green, he got back in his truck, pointed to the SaveCo parking lot and turned in.

A few cars up going the other direction was a SacPD car that I flagged down by flashing my lights and hitting my horn and told them what happened. They followed me in to the parking lot and parked between me and the truck.

The guy admitted he threw something at my car (which is a misdemeanor assault according to Sac PD) but denied that he punched my door. The officer brought him to the back of my car to look at the damage to my C-Pillar:

He said "yeah that is about the right size". I still have no idea what he threw but it made a hell of a noise and I am glad he missed the window.

But he denied that he caused the damage to my door:

At this point the officer took an information report where the guy in the truck both admitted that he threw the object and that he would pay for the damages. I have not pressed charges on the assault at this point and will not as long as the car is taken care of. I have a year and a day to ammend the report and file these charges if he does not take care of the repair.

If it wasn't for bad luck, I would have none at all...

Nope, if he does not pay up he will be prosecuted and could (hopefully) get jail time.

Holy effing crap, the damage estimate came in just under $2,500. I am guessing that he is going to attempt to get out of paying for the repair and that I am going to have to press charges but only time will tell...

Yeah they have to cut the fender and all that stuff. Body work is $$$. I'll bet he learns to control his temper next time.
