Just got out of a 2-hour long meeting in which, I **** you not, people argued which of the following should be used:

(1) "..a list of sealed sources possessed since the last inspection.."
(2) "..a list of sealed sources possessed since the most recent inspection.."

Shoot. Me. Now.

 

There are a couple of reasons to this.

1. Users - You figure out who the problem people are and you end up creating some kind of buffer between yourself and that user.
2. Management - Most management doesn't understand IT and really puts us in a 'what do you do here exactly' boat too often, which leads to a lot of lack of appreciation and necessary funding to get the job done. At some point you either let the stress from the job kill you or you accept the fact it's all a lost cause anyway.
3. Lazy - A lot of people in IT are the laziest people ever. I know some people who if they can't script a solution problem won't try to take the issue on. Last time I checked you couldn't script or download a mouse so yeah that is a problem in itself.

I suggest finding out what those fools drink of choice is and getting them a six pack or a bottle of something and tell them to get off your back.

Ah this was like me yesterday when I met with my supervisor and I told her that I need more storage for my backups and that it's stressing me out that we are lagging behind on this. And to 'reassure' me she told me that I should test to see what it would be like to back up to the 'Cloud', mind you there is a whole issue surrounding data governance that hasn't been answered by the IT overlords so putting anything of value in the 'cloud' is a big no-no at this point. So basically I am spinning my wheels like FWD in mud and not getting anywhere. I should just outsource myself to India and let those ****ers deal with this place.
