You can pay to go on track days and just drive around with other cars

I was going to buy a PS2 again and get this game, but I decided to wait and get the PSP and get the handheld version of the game. I'm thinking I may do both. Do you need a mod chip to play the Japanese version on a US PS2? Or are you using a Japanese PS2 as well?

I'm using JPN PS2. Note that this game is dual layer DVD9, and some chips don't work with dual layer DVDs.

Is it true the system now penalizes you for excessivly ramming other cars?

Seems only the rally races (1 one 1 like GT3) peanlize you by slowing you down for 5s. You don't get anything ramming cars anyway, you just slow yourself down this time around. Very hard to push cars into the kitty litters :P

Ah cool. I read somewhere that the game will black flag you for excessive bumping in some races.
