How can that be? That's less than the cost of the oil alone, let alone the filter, disposal, washer, etc.

No, I'd imagine materials cost is about $16. But you get what you pay for with $4 worth of labor... I wouldn't let WalMart put Redline in my car for free.

When I first had my Corvette, I didn't like getting under it to do oil changes. (The spoiler on the bottom would push away any ramps I tried to drive it on.) And it was my first car, and I was completely mechanically inept. (Much like today, heh.)

So, I went to walmart once.

They put maybe one turn on the oil filter... Car vomited oil all over the place. Can't even remember how i noticed it... The smell, I think.

Well, in any case they filled it back up, tightened the filter... And I drove the car 30,000 miles since then without any engine trouble. Thankfully.

F*ck walmart.

it used to be $20 because they didn't have a sku number for a mobile 1 oil change there. they would always ring it up as an oil change with regular mobil oil. i would watch them do it and it was always mobil1. the first time they did it i asked them what was up and the manager said they had no way to ring it up and it was just easier to do it that way.
