There was only two stock car run on the dyno and that was Justin's 15 Wrx and Dave 10 Wrx all other cars had something done to them.
I do have SPT Catback which could provide some better numbers.Originally Posted by Poweredbysnail

You had NOS. 2 big ones. Overnight from Taiwan

See, Dyno's aren't a game.... they should be an accurate representation of a car's performance. Had I come in here saying XXXXXX car has the same mods but he dyno'd 30hp more whaaa whaaa, then I can understand that. Different dyno, different day, different car.
BUT, the same dyno, same day, within hours (which is about how long it could take to do some part installs), should yield equal results. It's algebra...
I know what my butt dyno says, and I know what I should be expecting in terms of HP gain with the mods I have. 175WHP is about right, which calculates to around 200-210 crank HP, but what concerns me is asking IS the dyno reading high? Because a bone stock 2015 WRX should not be producing more than rated stock HP levels at the wheels.
The same car (2015 WRX, not the EXACT same car), on the same dyno almost 4 months earlier (Jan, colder temps) showed 20hp LESS to the wheels even with an intake (whoopty doo, I know)
http://speed.academy/wp-content/uplo...015-WRX-10.jpg
Again, different day, different car, but same dyno removes some error out, and 20hp is quite a difference.
Not out here to argue. All I wanted to do is see if the mods I've done to my car actually checked out and made some HP. It looks like it did, so I'm happy. I would have been happier being able to get a rough estimate of the actual crank HP on my car, but I don't think that is going to be possible due to the lack of comparable cars that day.

You can't determine crank hp from wheel hp.
Guess? Yes.
Calculate? No.

Completely agree. The 20% drivetrain "loss" is not some scientific number, it's a ballpark estimate too. Ultimately none of us even know what exact method the factory uses to claim horsepower numbers either. Which dyno? How is it set up? There is so much to it. And we all know some cars are underrated based on comparing equal "horsepower" and "weight" cars that are way faster or slower.
DDman, I just honestly think you have the wrong expectations here. Unless you magically line up like 10000 variables, all of these "numbers" are just estimates anyway. Not arguing, just making observation.

It's QQ thankyouverymuch
Dan, what have you done to get all that power?

I'm really upset my car didn't make 400whp I blame the tuner.

^^Hahaha!
I got tuned by that tuner too. Day or two before. Same dyno.
My butt-dyno says that I'm making all the powers the real dyno says.

I guess so. Didn't realize that either Subaru was significantly under rating their cars, or the dyno would be reading THAT high. I knew Mustang dyno's read high, but it just isn't going to work. Had there not been a single "Stock" car there, I wouldn't even be having this discussion because I know every car is different.Originally Posted by Vladi

Absolutely agree. I was trying to get within a 10% window as a ballpark (say 190-210 HP) as a rough guess.Originally Posted by FW Motorsports

I think it just kinda got me when I thought I would be comparable to a stock WRX of the same year (and only ~50hp under a brand new WRX), when the dyno says I'm DOUBLE that, which is essentially my car, stock (160 v 268). Just makes me wonder why there's such a discrepancy when its the same dyno, same day. I guess as Vladi said, my expectations were unrealistic.
Thanks guys.

Heard it scared the **** out of the owner once on the freeway too...

Hmm... big discussion...
so when is the next dyno day??? lol... I'm curious what my wife's 15 WRX is putting down before we start modding.

Im pretty sure that the dyno at FW is spot on with GSTs "heart-breaker" dyno
