I'm sorry, but I've never seen a hipster douchey douche with a handlebar mustache and mutton chops and the beard wasn't to be a Berkley hippy, it was because I was lazy and bored with not having a goatee anymore.

Funny story: I was at Chipotle with two friends (1 guy, 1 girl) from my English class. The other guy also has a beard and we were saying its more of a laziness thing than a "style" thing. I added that my facial hair (goatee, mustache, beard) changing really depends on how bored I am. After saying that I proceed to take a bite of my burrito. As soon as teeth break through the burrito barrier and hit rice, the girl goes "yeah, my shaving depends on boredom too."

It was too late to abort the bite, but my mind went "stop all movement......what the f...?"

edit: I'm traveling to LIC on Friday, I think I'll do the handlebar and mutton chops
