Fun alternative to I-5?

Whats up, I'm heading down to LA tomorrow and don't feel like taking 5 like I always do. I was thinking of taking 101 but does anyone have an other suggestions? I'm up for a long drive if its worth it.
Thanks, steve

If I had unlimited time, I'd take 1. Best drive, ever.

Considerably longer. You hug the curves of the coastline the entire time.

It took about 5 hours or so (IIRC) to get from San Luis Obispo to SF.

101 is barely more interesting then 5, except where it meets up with 1 in random sections.

The drive down 101 will take you, at the very least, 2-3 hours extra over taking I5. Taking 1 will cost you roughly 6 extra hours

Which is what makes the drive worth it.

Some of the absolute best corners in CA, no question the best views.

No, but fortunately the speedlimit is 70 a majority of that stretch of road.
