Update: The more I thought about it, you'll be better served (read as safer and probably cheaper) to just get an inexpensive 12V DC power supply from a place like Fry's and wire that up rather than trying to make your own transformer/converter. Unless you REALLY want to make your own, then I can a make you a parts list.
