Although a good thing, drivers don't understand that it's ok. The lady on my ride to work... saw me and tried to squeeze me into a 18wheeler while flipping me off.....

I've known it was legal.....since I was a little kid.

side note... better link to the deal I was posting earlier.

Exactly. It's one of the things on the list that keeps me from living in Nevada.

Even on the motorcycle forums the rest of the country thinks we are nvts. The non-californias are screaming at us. The californias are just laid back like, hey man....groovy....like.....it's all cool.....far out.

I used to get fired up about that stuff. I don't anymore.
I just go around. I treat them as driverless moving roadblocks. I WILL get through.

Eh, I don't get angry. I ride on.
They don't seem to understand that I'll just back off, and go a few lanes over, pass them where they can't see...and never slow down.

I had a bike cop, once on the way to db, (while I was splitting) using me as a shield so he could pull people over that attempted to **** with me. It was cool when the truck full of gardeners (they had mowers and stuff in the back) attempted to box me in... Cop went over to the driver's side and made him pull over.

@ the riverside bottleneck.

I want a camera on the front of my bike..

Is lane splitting always legal in CA, or only when traffic is going <25mph?

Different people use different numbers. The laws don't specify a speed. Just can't do it if it's unsafe. Up to the officer. Bike cops get it are cool. Some cops in cars tend to like it less. Most of the time they are stuck traffic too I just keep going.

I start to split below about 30 on the freeway and stop when traffic gets back up to around 40. Depends. I really need to be in the 'zone' and hyper-aware. Takes about a week straight of riding then it's pure instinct without thinking. Like Jedi.
