Truck Hits Wheelchair, Pushes It For Miles
PAW PAW, Mich. -- A wheelchair-bound man got taken on the ride of his life when he became stuck to the grill of a tractor-trailer.
The 21-year-old was accidentally pushed by the truck at speeds of 50 mph, authorities said.
When the man in the wheelchair crossed a road, he was struck by the truck as it pulled out of a gas station, police said.
Witnesses in Paw Paw, Mich., called 911 and said they saw the wheelchair stuck to the truck grill.
About four miles later, the unaware truck driver was stopped by authorities. He stepped out and saw the unharmed man in the wheelchair, who said "it was quite a ride."
"There is a westbound truck dragging a man in a wheelchair," an unidentified caller told a 911 operator. "He did not see him crossing in front of him when the light changed. He's out in front of the middle school right now. He's westbound? He's westbound, he doesn't know he's dragging this man."
The Paw Paw Police Department is investigating the bizarre incident.
Once complete, the findings will be handed over to the Van Buren County prosecutor to determine possible charges
