I fish for bass(smallmouth, large mouth, and stripers), bluegill, crappie, and trout. Have yet to go salmon fishing. I just got back yesterday from fishing up in Hat Creek in Old Station and Baum Lake and the 4 of us came home with 5 fish each. We caught mostly rainbows but a few brooks.
I know this is the Sac forum but I try to go up that way and fish the rivers for stripers and areas up there as well as down here

Trout and large mouth bass mostly. There are plenty of nice streams, rivers and lakes up towards the foothills where I am at.
I have always been a bait-caster but was recently turned on to Orvis and their free fly fishing classes. Just did their 101 class yesterday and it was AWESOME. Doing their 201 class this weekend.
I am going to pick up a used fly rod and give it a try next time.

If your in Natomas, try fishing the canal systems. I have caught some huge catfish there.
There is also a ton of ponds in the north Natomas area which are good for bass fishing.

i fish mainly for bass and trout. none of my friends are big on fishing so i usually bank fish alone. however i recently acquired a kayak, hoping to take that out soon. i catch and release mostly, except for trout if i feel like cleaning it haha.
