Diagnosis?
Hey you car freaks, I'm trying to convince my girl that I need new car parts. Namely front shocks, clutch, exhaust and LSD. Yes, the car part, not the drug
SS already replaced my rear shocks when they did my springs (the entire driver side fell apart when they took it off :eek ) And now on the front, I hear a rather loud crunch when I go over speed bumps any faster then 1mph. Blown?
Also, my clutch is getting increasingly difficult to put into 3rd gear and reverse. There's also this shuddering whenever I pull off in first. That's always been there. Bad clutch?
The exhaust and LSD I think I can slip by her un-noticed
Any expert opinions on the latter?

Sell zoeb the LSD.
I think if you explain it to her(that your bucket is old and needs to have work done), work out a payment plan(you are going to pay her back right?) she'll give you the funds.
EDIT: Wait are you asking to borrow money from her??

I think she will notice the exhaust but the clutch and other goods should be the first step.
Then look for a good used exhaust after all the stuff is installed and after you buy her some Godiva Truffles.
As far as your gears? Might it be the sychros? I know my honda did that in 1st and 3rd.

yah thats a hard one.............
my wife always tells me she like my hobbies, and is always willing to let me spend any amount of money (if I have any extra) on the ride for "safety". I think if you showed her the mods being done are for "safety" she might just give in a little. I mean you dont want to lose control or be stranded on the side of the road at 1 am.
I hope this helps a little

Actual phone conversation with my wife while on a business trip:
Me: Hi Babe, whatcha doing?
Her: Oh nothing, just remodeling your daughters room.
Me: Why?
Her: She needed a new bed.
Me: Why?
Her: ...........It didn't match.
Me: It didn't match what?
Her: The new pillows I bought her.
Me: Why didn't you buy pillows that matched?
Her: Because then I wouldn't need to buy her a new bed.

yeah safety and price - benefit v economical burden argument would help. Also find sites or quotes that are double in price to what you are getting. This would make any girl happy.

shocks and clutch are maintenance items. just go buy em and if she puts up a fight use the old "do you want me to get in a car accident?" line.
as for the others... good luck. i had a deal worked out with my wife that any money that came into our posession that wasn't from a paycheck (tax return, mortgage company screw ups that give money back, etc...) we'd split 50-50 and no questions are to be asked about what we spend it on.
