Design my makers mark
I finally got around to my life long quest to make my own knives. I know it sounds a little far fetched but there are many makers out there doing some great work. Always carried some sort of pocket knife since I was a kid thanks to my Granddad. Once I got a little older I had always wanted to do it as a hobby, as a small side job, or both.
I managed to link-up with a world respected maker of 30yrs to learn the craft. So now I need a makers mark to identify my knives otherwise they're worthless in a sense. In the meantime I'm trying to assemble my own shop so I can crank out more. Mostly focusing on professional kitchen knives so maybe a mark somehow based on that theme? I dunno… I’m really open for anything.
Ideally a mark would need to have a name and maybe a location but it’s not necessarily required. Plus details on the mark would need to show if it were to be etched small. Here's one my buddy did: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...akersmarks.jpg
There are others out there that spark my interest like this: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...dropshadow.gif
And some are simply a mark without any name (see the sunfish stamp): http://www.sunfishforge.com/best-fixed-plaza06.html http://www.sunfishforge.com/chicagofixed.html
Any ideas would be helpful. Any artists out there? Maybe we can work something out... like a free knife once I get up and running.

I'm no help on art, Eric, but you can bet I'll be obtaining some of your work, as I know it's going to be outstanding.

I like the design that's just a fish, it's just a really clean design. I guess the problem is people wouldn't know off-hand who makes the knife without doing a net search or something.
I like this design too

Will do. Still have a lot to learn and need more time to hone my skill before feeling comfortable enough to let my work go to the public but am almost there. All current projects are at the knifemaker's shop I'm apprenticing with. Won't be able to get pics of those for awhile as they are off for special heat treating.
I do have a picture of my first knife. It's a paring knife with ATS-34 steel, riveted bolsters (didn't do a great peen job first time around – they should be virtually invisible), and Kingwood scales

And for the record this "free knife" for whomever makes a design i'd use would be worth a a decent amount based on time spent and craftsmanship. Should last you a lifetime depending on use.

For the Seax:
--blade / guard made with Ferrium M60S
--handle / butt made of Oosic
Total length approx 10-12 inches. I can provide materials and design specifics.

Not exactly sure how to work M60S and I haven't heard too much about the steel besides basic stuff. Have you researched 13C26 from Sandvik? Fine grain structure med-high carbon stainless that takes an edge like 1095. I plan on using this a lot with my kitchen knives because of the fine grain structure. Not accepting orders at the moment and probably won't be until I get settled in with the new shop i'm still slowly trying to assemble. But if you had a design we could certainly work something out down the road.
