Hearing the boxer engine's purr in the cabin is one of the main reasons I love the power plant. It's gotten to the point where I can hear a WRX/STi coming or going.
Ear plugs would've been less of a hassle, and cheaper too! 
Hope it works. A friend of mine did something like that to a different car, but it didn't work out so well.

20-30 lbs isn't bad at all, but thats a lot of dynomat, are you sure it isn't more?
Also what kind of stereo are you putting in there?... I see some dynamat extreme in the trunk and i'm assuming you are doing that to prevent rattling.

Don't forget to take some sound readings, this sounds (haha) like something I might want to do in the future.

did you put the amp under the drivers seat? I have found that to be a no no in the past not to mention now you have hole in your floor board depending on how professional the installers are. be sure to check it after the next rain.
