Caught by an airplane at 107MPH
try to remember what you said to the cop, too. He will have written it all down. Don't bank on them not showing to court, either. I think CHP gets dings on their records for not showing.

Many years ago I was paced at 110 up the sonol grade. He wrote me up for 85+.
Maybe you can say that you changed your tires to larger ones and thought that you were only going 95 because of the speedo error.

If they actually wrote you up for >100 prepare to walk funny for at least 3 years... Along with the monster fine, your insurance is going to double or triple depending on your record. Mine doubled when I was written up for a over 75 a couple of years ago (I was going 105 at 2 in the morning, they were looking for drunks so they let me go with an over 75 so they wouldn't have to arrest me.) The good news is, that was the last time I drove over 90 on public roads and I haven't had a ticket since.
I got pulled over in the same area heading East, back to Reno. 3am, totally empty, I was prolly driving around 100.
Then in the review I see the disco's waaaay back up the road. I slow down to 65 and move to the far right lane. The cop catches up and pulls me over. I made sure to pull off on an exit and stop right under a streetlamp so the cop could see me easily.
For 3am, the cop seemed pretty cheerful, but the 1st thing he said to me when he walked up: "I must have the slowest squad car on the force tonight... I was going 120, and it took me 10 miles to catch you!" He then told me he clocked me going 91. Oops!
However the cop was very cool, he wrote me up for 75 in a 65, and asked me to "just keep it under 75 or you'll have to talk to one of us again tonight". He also asked me about the car, since the WRX had only been out about 3 or 4 months at the time. I think he was a little surprised that it was a Subaru that he had just had to run down for going so fast.
I ended up paying about $120 (IIRC) in fines, plus I did an online traffic school just to make sure I didn't have a ticket in CA that might have been reported to the NV DMV. So it wasn't really too big of a deal. However, because I wasn't over that magic 100 when I was clocked, I really lucked out. I don't drive like that on public roads anymore... the risk for getting screwed by CHP (or worse killing youself and others) is too great. That's what track days are for.
